Pride Day Parade
(Ireland, 2022)

The Covid-19 pandemic had affected events and outings globally around the world. After two years of incredibly strict regulations, the Dublin Pride Parade was finally back to its usual colourful fun on June 25th. Marching from the Garden of Remembarance and ending at Merrion Square, the parade was filled with participants as well as onlookers and supporters who marched and cheered with excitement.

Being a country that normalised gay marriages and same-sex unions, it can be comfortably said that Ireland is one of the most gay-friendly countries in the world after legalised by popular vote.

That fact has remained firm that Ireland has seen through an incredible social revolution and reform. With violence and discrimination towards the LGBTQ+ community not being anything new, the pandemic had increased tensions and hate towards minority groups in general.

This would give Dublin Pride Parade more reason to continue, as they also expresed a need to come together and unite against hate and discrimination while emphasising the importance of values such as tolerance, understanding, and love.
